[MyDaily = Shim Hye-jin] Lee Jung-hoo, 28, of the San Francisco Giants returned from a back injury and announced his comeback in spectacular fashion.
On the 1st (Korean time) at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, Lee started in right field and batted fifth against the Colorado Rockies in a 2026 Major League game, going 5-for-6 with two RBIs and one run scored.
The outing bumped his season batting average from .287 to .304, finally pushing him above the .300 mark.
It was the first five-hit game of Lee’s career — something he never achieved in the KBO or since moving to the U.S.
Rest appears to have helped. After landing on the injured list with back pain, Lee returned and collected four hits in his May 30 comeback. He followed that with a multi-hit performance, including a triple, on May 31, then added five hits on Monday — 11 hits across three games.
He hit an astonishing .733 over the three-game stretch.
With that run, Lee now ranks second on the Giants behind Luis Arraez (.321) and sits seventh in the National League.
CBS Sports praised the effort, noting Lee’s five-hit night (including a double), two RBIs and a run helped lead the team to victory, and called it a career-high five hits that underscored his ability to produce consistently at the plate.
They added that after leaving the lineup with a back injury and returning, Lee went 11-for-15 (.733) during the Colorado road series, turning into a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
