[MyDaily = Reporter Noh Chan-hyeok] Barcelona moved quickly to complete the signing of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
The England-born winger is known for his speed, direct dribbling and ability to break lines behind defenses. A product of Everton’s academy, Gordon made his senior debut in the 2019–20 season and moved to Newcastle during the winter 2022–23 transfer window.
He was Newcastle’s Player of the Year after a 12-goal, 10-assist campaign last season. This term he recorded 17 goals and five assists in 46 appearances — a new career high — drawing interest from top clubs including Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Barcelona.
Gordon had already agreed personal terms with Barcelona. Transfer-market expert Fabrizio Romano reported on the 27th (Korea time), “Gordon and Barcelona have reached a complete agreement on personal terms.”

After finalizing his personal terms, Barcelona moved to complete the club-to-club deal with Newcastle. Romano said, “Gordon’s move to Barcelona is confirmed. Newcastle accepted Barcelona’s official offer.”
Romano added the fixed fee is €70 million (about 122 billion KRW, approximately $91.5 million), and with add-ons the total is expected to exceed €80 million (around 140 billion KRW, approximately $105 million). Gordon is set to travel to Barcelona for a medical and to finalize his contract.

With Gordon’s move on the verge of completion, Marcus Rashford’s chance of a permanent switch to Barcelona has all but disappeared. Rashford — who had been linked with a loan to Barcelona — now looks more likely to return to parent club Manchester United.
Gordon has also publicly expressed admiration for Son Heung-min (LA FC), calling Son “a fantastic player” and “my biggest idol.”
