[MyDaily = Reporter Kim Jong-guk] LAFC, mired in a recent slump, looks headed for a tough trip to Nashville.
On May 14, LAFC fell 2-1 in an MLS road match in St. Louis, extending the club’s losing streak to three official matches. LAFC will travel to face Nashville on May 18 in Round 14 of the 2026 MLS season. Nashville sits atop the Eastern Conference with an 8-3-1 record (27 points), while LAFC is fifth in the Western Conference at 6-3-4 (21 points).
On May 15, MLS previewed the matchup and labeled Nashville one of the season’s leading title contenders. LAFC has gone four official matches without a win and, following a semifinal second-leg loss to Toluca that knocked them out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, has lost back-to-back MLS games. Market analysis favors the home side—45% of bets predict a Nashville victory. Despite injuries to key players, Nashville has displayed strong form and appears capable of taking on MLS heavyweights.
U.S. outlet Squawka forecast a Nashville edge, noting that the hottest team in MLS will host an LAFC side whose defensive organization has unraveled. While Son Heung-min and Buanga should still create chances, Nashville’s recent run—unbeaten in six matches with a +18 goal differential—makes them the likely favorite. The team has won six of its last nine matches and recorded five clean sheets in that span, showing consistency.
Spanish-language outlet Olé reacted to LAFC’s St. Louis defeat, saying the club has slipped into poor form. They noted LAFC’s scarcity of wins, heavy home losses, and Son’s recent scoreless run. Entering the season as a top MLS contender with the potent attacking duo of Son and Buanga, LAFC went unbeaten through their first six matches, but things began to change in Round 7. After Son’s five-assist masterclass in the 6-0 rout of Orlando City, Olé suggested LAFC’s ability to produce consistent results has faded.
