In the top of the second, with the bases loaded and nobody out, Lee Jae-hyun launched a grand slam off LG starter Song Seung-gi to instantly put Samsung up by four. Kang Min-ho followed with a solo homer on the very next pitch, turning it into back-to-back homers and a 5-0 lead. Samsung added two more in the fifth when Kang delivered an RBI single, and Lee added another solo shot in the seventh to seal the game. Lee, back from a lower-back injury, recorded his first career multi-homer game and set a single-game career high in RBI, emerging as the game’s clear difference-maker. Replacement starter Yang Chang-seop gave Samsung a strong outing, going five innings while allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) to earn his second win of the season. For the Twins, Lee Joo-heon supplied some late resistance with solo homers in the third and ninth innings. In Daejeon, Hanwha’s Jeong Woo-ju — regarded as one of Korean baseball’s promising young pitchers — took the mound against Kiwoom ace An Woo-jin and turned in an impressive performance. Jeong, who began the season in the bullpen and was handed a start amid rotation issues, worked four innings, surrendering one hit, issuing two walks and allowing one run. Though he left one inning shy of the five-inning threshold required to be credited with the win, the outing signaled a successful transition to the starting rotation. “I’ve looked up to him since high school, so I felt excited and nervous,” Jeong said. “But I told myself I wasn’t facing An Woo-jin — I was facing Kiwoom’s hitters. I set that aside and focused on each batter.” An, meanwhile, struggled. He gave up a game-tying solo shot to Kim Tae-yeon in the fifth that ultimately put Hanwha ahead, finishing with five innings, five hits and three runs and taking the loss.
