[SPOTV News, Gocheok — Park Seung-hwan] Noh Si-hwan delivered when it mattered.
The Hanwha Eagles defeated the Kiwoom Heroes 11-5 at Gocheok Sky Dome on May 12, 2026, sweeping the three-game series and registering their first three-game winning streak of the season.
Building off series wins over the KIA Tigers and LG Twins last week, Hanwha struck early. In the top of the first, after Hwang Young-muk was hit by a pitch, Yonathan Peraza singled and Kang Baek-ho walked to load the bases with one out. Noh Si-hwan then crushed a grand slam off Kiwoom starter Bae Dong-hyun for his third career grand slam, putting Hanwha firmly in front.
Hanwha continued to add runs. Still in the first, with one out and nobody on, back-to-back hits by Lee Jin-young and Kim Tae-yeon set up runners at the corners, and Choi Jae-hoon’s sacrifice fly pushed the inning to five runs. In the second, consecutive doubles from Moon Hyun-bin and Kang Baek-ho produced another run. Then in the fourth, a four-hit sequence from Peraza, Moon, Kang and Noh added two more, stretching the lead to 8-0.
Starter Ryu Hyun-jin was sharp through three innings but began to struggle in the fourth. After singles by Ahn Chi-hong and Choi Joo-hwan, a sacrifice fly by Trenton Brooks produced Ryu’s first run allowed. In the fifth, he retired two batters quickly but then yielded a hit to Seo Geon-chang and walked Im Byung-wook. A two-run single by Ahn Chi-hong followed, and Ryu was removed after five innings with three runs allowed.

Despite lasting only five innings, Ryu benefited from robust run support and the result never felt in doubt. In the top of the sixth, Kang Baek-ho hit a solo homer to pad the lead. Kiwoom scored in the bottom of the sixth but could only cut the gap to five; both teams traded a run in the eighth, and Hanwha held on to complete the sweep.
Ryu finished with five innings, five hits, two walks, nine strikeouts and three earned runs. He recorded his first career win at Gocheok and the 199th win of his career. Offensively, Noh went 3-for-6 with a home run, five RBIs and one run; Kang had three hits (including a homer), three RBIs, two runs and two walks; Moon collected three hits, one RBI and two runs.
After the game, Manager Kim Kyung-moon praised Ryu for setting the tone. He said the hitters did their part—highlighting Noh Si-hwan’s grand slam—and the bullpen finished the job to secure the victory.
