Fox Sports is hiring one part-time worker who will be paid roughly 70 million KRW (approximately $52,500) to watch all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup.

Fox Sports announced it will publicly recruit a single “FOX One Chief World Cup Watcher” ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The network made the announcement in partnership with job site Indeed. The person selected will watch every one of the tournament’s 104 matches staged across the U.S., Canada and Mexico from June 11 through July 19.
The assignment runs 50 days in total, beginning June 6—one week before the tournament starts—and ending July 26, one week after the final.
The watcher will be stationed in a custom transparent glass cube in the heart of Times Square, streaming every match in 4K on Fox Sports’ streaming service, FOX One, while thousands of passersby see the action live on-site.
Beyond viewing duties, the hire will produce and share social content and engage with fans in real time. Fox Sports says it prioritizes content-creation skills, personality and on-camera communication over deep soccer expertise.
The job posting asks candidates to be fluent on social media and confident speaking on camera, and it notes applicants should remain composed if a celebrity or sports star drops by the cube to watch a match.

Robert Gottlieb, Fox Sports’ head of marketing, called the hire fitting for a historic World Cup and said the selected person will get to experience stories and moments of joy from around the world firsthand.
Indeed’s chief marketing officer, James Whittemore, said, “Our mission is to connect job seekers and employers and help people find work faster. This collaboration with Fox Sports is a great example.”
The application process is different from a typical job listing. Candidates should create or update an Indeed profile, turn on the “Employers can find me” setting, and post a short video on social media explaining why they’re right for the role.
Applicants must use the hashtag ‘#ChiefWorldCupWatcher‘. Fox Sports’ hiring team will search profiles and reach out directly. The application deadline is May 17.
The winner will be announced live during Fox’s broadcast of the MLB game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees on June 6. The successful candidate will receive 73 million KRW ($50,000) and separate support for living expenses in New York City.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup opens in Mexico City on June 11 and concludes with the final in New Jersey on July 19. A record 48 teams will compete across 104 matches.
South Korea was drawn into Group A with Mexico, the Czech Republic and South Africa. South Korea faces the Czech Republic on June 12, Mexico on June 19 and South Africa on June 25 — with all three matches kicking off between 10 and 11 a.m. Korea time.
