Noh Si-hwan collapses after headshot
After being sent down to the minors for a slump, Hanwha outfielder Noh Si-hwan was recalled to the first team on April 23 and suffered a frightening headshot the following day. In the bottom of the fourth inning on April 24 at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark, opposing starter Curtis Taylor’s pitch struck the back of Noh’s head. Taylor’s two-seam fastball, measured at 144 km/h (about 89 mph), hit Noh’s helmet directly. Noh grabbed his head and went down, remaining on the ground for several moments before getting up and walking to first base. Umpires ejected Taylor automatically under the headshot rule — his fourth ejection of the season. Although Noh chose to stay in the game, fans questioned why Hanwha didn’t remove him for precautionary reasons. Given the direct impact to the back of his head, many argued the club should have given him time to rest and be evaluated even if he showed no immediate symptoms.
