[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] The LG Twins finally shook off an opening three-game skid, beating the KIA Tigers 7-2.
LG defeated KIA 7-2 on April 1 at Seoul’s Jamsil Stadium in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League matchup.
Last season’s champion LG had started 0-3, but the win moved them to 1-3 and provided a much-needed momentum lift.
KIA also dropped to 1-3.
LG starter Song Seung-ki delivered 4 1/3 strong innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out four and walking one. Kim Jin-seong followed with 2/3 of an inning scoreless, and Jang Hyun-sik, Ham Deok-ju and Woo Kang-hoon each tossed a clean inning to finish the game.
KIA starter Yang Hyeon-jong took the loss after four innings, giving up three runs on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Oh Seon-woo’s solo homer was a bright spot for KIA, but it wasn’t enough.
In the bottom of the first, Shin Min-jae and Austin opened with back-to-back singles and Park Dong-won drew a walk to load the bases. Moon Sung-ju then drew a bases-loaded walk for the first run. Oh Ji-hwan followed with an RBI groundout, and Gu Bon-hyeok’s bunt single pushed the lead to 3-0.
KIA answered in the top of the fifth when Oh Seon-woo belted a solo homer. Later in the inning, Kim Tae-gun’s single and Kim Ho-ryeong’s double put runners on second and third with two outs, but Castro struck out and KIA left the threat stranded.
LG extended the lead in the sixth. Lee Jae-won drew a walk, Hong Chang-gi doubled, and Shin Min-jae walked to load the bases with one out. Austin’s sacrifice fly added a run and made it 4-1.
In the eighth, Cheon Seong-ho doubled and Park Hae-min’s bunt moved a runner to third with one out. Hong Chang-gi’s infield grounder produced another run, and with two outs and runners on second and third, Park Dong-won delivered a two-run double to make it 7-1 and effectively put the game away.
KIA managed one more run in the top of the ninth when Dale delivered an RBI hit, but it did little to change the outcome. The game ended with LG on top, 7-2.
