[Sports Today reporter Shin Seoyoung] KT Wiz announced on the 30th that it will mark the 2026–2027 \”Year of Visiting Suwon\” with a slate of events at its home opener against the Samsung Lions at Suwon KT Wiz Park on April 3.
The season opener is a joint event with the city of Suwon and will be attended by Mayor Lee Jae-jun and Suwon City Council Chair Lee Jae-sik. Before first pitch, organizers will show a commemorative video and stage a traditional gi-nori performance at Hwaseong’s Changryongmun gate.
The Suwon Children’s Choir, Singing Angels, will perform the national anthem. Mayor Lee will deliver a brief address to officially open the season. Gunho, a Suwon-born member of Cortis (under Big Hit Music) who appears in KT commercials, will throw the ceremonial first pitch, and James will take part in the ceremonial first swing to kick off the team’s home slate.
On April 4, 2026 (the 25th) Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics short-track gold medalist Noh Do-hee will throw a ceremonial pitch, followed on April 5 by TOMORROW X TOGETHER member Taehyun as part of a ceremonial-pitch relay.
Suwon KT Wiz Park also completed a series of upgrades ahead of the new season. The club replaced every seat in the stadium, repainted the exterior, installed new artificial turf and upgraded the outfield fences to improve both play and fan experience.
The team store has introduced RFID technology to speed transactions, and food-and-beverage outlets have been remodeled for greater comfort. The F&B zone now features an LED panoramic media wall to showcase varied content.
A new kids’ café in center field will give families more options during games.
The ballpark’s AI Stadium features fresh upgrades as well. The club has implemented a generative AI–based design automation platform to deliver new videos, designs and content throughout the venue. Fans can expect AI-driven content on the media façade and the F&B media wall.
