[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Mexico, which will share Group A at the 2026 CONCACAF World Cup with South Korea under coach Hong Myung-bo, was held to a 0-0 draw by Portugal.
The match finished scoreless on March 29 (KST) at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City.
Mexico will face Belgium in a second friendly on April 1.
Raúl Jiménez (Fulham) started as a lone striker as Mexico hunted for a breakthrough, but the side lacked the finishing touch.
At home, Mexico dominated possession (66.4% to 33.6%) and outshot Portugal 10-7, yet they couldn’t turn control into goals.
Only one of Mexico’s 10 attempts was on target. In the 80th minute, Julián Quiñones swung in a cross from the left and Armando González met it with a header, but the effort went wide.
Portugal had the clearest chance of their own when Gonçalo Ramos’ right-footed strike in the 26th minute rattled the post.
In the end, neither side could break the deadlock and the game ended 0-0.
