[iNews24 reporter Lee Sang-wan] Gimpo, in Gyeonggi Province, has begun full implementation of a toll-subsidy program for the Ilsan Bridge.
On the 1st, the city launched its Gimpo City Ilsan Bridge toll-subsidy registration system, which began operating at 9:00 a.m.
The program reimburses tolls for Gimpo residents who use the Ilsan Bridge during weekday commute hours: mornings from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Residents must register on the Gimpo City toll-subsidy portal, provide vehicle information, and apply for reimbursement using Hi-pass electronic toll records as the basis for claims.
Applications are accepted from the 1st through the 10th of each month. After review, approved claims are paid at the end of the month. For example, an application submitted between April 1 and April 10 would cover usage in March.
Kim Byung-soo, mayor of Gimpo, said he hopes many residents will take advantage of the new, convenient service and that the city will continue to expand transportation policies that deliver tangible benefits to residents.
City officials said they will analyze the program’s performance and usage patterns, consider phased expansions of eligible users and covered time windows, and streamline application procedures and system integration to make the service more convenient for residents.
