Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, is set to launch its “Youth Internship Support Program,” aimed at connecting unemployed local youth with businesses seeking workers. The county has announced that it will be recruiting participating businesses from March 19th to 23rd.
Eligible businesses must have at least two full-time employees and be located within the county. Those failing to provide the four major insurances, having a history of wage arrears, or involved in labor disputes are excluded. Participating businesses are required to pay youth interns a monthly wage of at least 2,367,000 KRW (about 1,775 USD) (based on the 2026 living wage of 11,300 KRW (about 8.48 USD) per hour for a 40-hour workweek). The county will subsidize up to 110,000 KRW (about 82.50 USD) per month for a maximum of seven months.
This year, the county has significantly expanded opportunities for youth by lowering the participation requirement from five full-time employees to just two.
Recruitment for youth interns will commence in March, following the verification of participating businesses. Unemployed residents aged 18 to 39 are eligible to apply. Further details about the application process will be announced separately.
Interested parties can apply in person at the Youth and Young Adult Division of the county’s Family Welfare Department or via email to the designated contact person. Comprehensive information is available in the announcements section of the county government’s official website.
County Mayor Jeon Jin-seon expressed his hopes for the program, stating, “We anticipate this initiative will provide valuable work experience for our youth while addressing workforce shortages for local businesses. Our goal is to support the economic independence of our young residents.”
