President Donald Trump said the odds of bombing Iran versus reaching a deal are roughly 50-50.
In an interview with Axios on the 23rd (local time), Trump said there is an even chance the U.S. will either secure a favorable agreement or “completely devastate” Iran. He added that he has received briefings from the U.S. negotiating team and is reviewing the latest information they provided.
That same day, Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, visited Iran. Munir traveled to Tehran and met with the president, the speaker of parliament and the foreign minister to discuss ending hostilities. Esmail Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, said there was a meaningful exchange of messages between Iran and the U.S.
Axios reported Trump will decide whether to resume airstrikes on Iran before the 24th. Trump said the choice is either to strike hard or to reach a good deal — one or the other.
