On the 19th, the campaign of Democratic Party mayoral candidate Jeong Won-oh criticized Mayor Oh Se-hoon for wearing a light-green tie at his announcement, saying the choice signaled he was erasing his party’s colors to distance himself as the party’s support hit rock bottom.

Park Kyung-mi, spokesperson for Jeong’s campaign committee, said in a statement that citizens already see through Mayor Oh’s self-serving political ambition in choosing a light-green tie over the red typically associated with the People Power Party.
Park also accused Oh of similar inconsistency on impeachment. She noted that on Dec. 6, 2024, he posted on social media that impeachment was not the only solution and appealed to conservatives by emphasizing national stability. When public support for impeachment surged, she said, he reversed course six days later and called for impeachment proceedings so the matter could be resolved through the courts.
She added that his flip-flopping has been firmly etched in the memories of Seoul residents. \”We cannot entrust the city to a mayor who changes positions for political gain without principles or a clear democratic philosophy,\” she said.
On Facebook, Jeong marked the 66th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution, saying, \”With the spirit of April 19, we will end internal strife and restore democracy.\” He pledged to stand with citizens to defend democracy and to take full responsibility for building a fairer, more transparent Seoul.
