Daejeon’s Next Mayor: Kim Je-sun Secures Democratic Nomination in a Thrilling Runoff

The Democratic Party has officially nominated incumbent Jung-gu Mayor Kim Je-seon as its candidate in the Daejeon Jung-gu mayoral election.
On the 17th, the party said Kim defeated district councilor Yuk Sang-rae in the runoff to secure the nomination.
In the four-way primary, no candidate secured a majority, sending Kim into a runoff with Yuk Sang-rae. After two days of runoff voting, party members chose him as their nominee.
The result sets up a head-to-head contest for Daejeon’s Jung-gu mayor between Kim and Kim Seon-gwang, a People Power Party member of the Daejeon City Council.
