Supporting campaign efforts in strategic regions like TK
The Democratic Party’s National College Students’ Committee said it will actively back the \”Half-and-Half Support Team,\” which asks incumbent lawmakers to split their campaign efforts between their own constituencies and strategic regions ahead of the June 3 local elections.
Bong Geon-woo, chair of the committee, held a press conference at the National Assembly briefing room on the 17th to welcome the launch of the central party’s Half-and-Half Support Team. \”Young people in blue will lead the effort to reclaim the party’s strategic districts,\” he said. \”We will go to the toughest, most hotly contested areas to secure victory for the party.\”
Bong added, \”Rather than empty calls for opportunities, we will demonstrate how much young people can contribute to the party. Together with the Lee Jae-myung administration, we will build local governments where young people can actually work.\”
The Half-and-Half Support Team is an internal party body formed to prepare for the local elections at the suggestion of Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheong-rae. The party will collect preferred regions from lawmakers and deploy teams accordingly, focusing on six areas: Daegu, North Gyeongsang, Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang, and Gangwon.
Attendees at the press conference included Hwang Myung-seon, a member of the Democratic Party’s Supreme Council; Bong; Lee Dong-won, former senior vice chair of the election committee; Lee Yoon-sang, former secretary-general of the election committee; Oh Yeon-ji, former chief spokesperson of the election committee; and Joo Kyung-min, chair of the Daegu Metropolitan Party’s college student committee.
