Superintendent Do Sung-hoon has effectively launched his campaign for a third term by hosting this book release event.
On the 10th, the superintendent held the launch for his book “Question 8” at Songdo Convensia. The event attracted over 2,000 participants, including Democratic Party politicians such as Kim Kyo-heung (Seo-gu Gap), Jeong Il-young (Yeonsu Eul), and Heo Jong-sik (Dongmichuhol Gap), as well as prominent figures from the education sector.
He explained, “I chose the title ‘Question 8’ to represent eight questions aimed at vastly expanding the functions and potential of education. This book encapsulates my personal reflections and inquiries about education based on my direct experiences.”
Political analysts suggest that the superintendent’s presentation of educational strategies for Incheon during this book launch effectively signals his intention to run in the upcoming superintendent election, part of the 9th nationwide local elections scheduled for June 3. While other progressive candidates for the Incheon education superintendent position have already declared their candidacies, Do is strategically delaying his announcement to maximize the advantages of his incumbent status. This tactic aims to avoid accusations that his current activities as superintendent are merely disguised campaign efforts.
Superintendent Do stated, “This book documents my reflections and actions as I’ve sought to question and find solutions for Incheon’s education system during my tenure. From the moment I assumed the role of superintendent, I believed that maximizing transparency and communication in administration was paramount.” He added, “Every step taken on this journey has been solely for the benefit and growth of our entire educational community. I hope this book will serve as a foundation for advancing education not only in Incheon but throughout South Korea.”
