Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, addressed demands from conservative YouTuber Jeon Han-gil for a “Yoon Again” stance. He stated, “I’ve clearly expressed my position on all the current controversial issues – martial law, impeachment, severance, Yoon Again, and election fraud allegations – even before the party convention.”
During his appearance on the Munhwa Ilbo YouTube show “Heo Min’s News Show” on February 10, Jang emphasized, “My officially stated position remains unchanged.”
On February 8, Jeon criticized Jang on his YouTube channel. He referenced a recent statement by Park Seong-hoon, the People Power Party spokesperson, who said, “The party leadership cannot align with those supporting martial law, claiming election fraud, or the Yoon Again faction.” Jeon demanded Jang clarify within three days whether Park’s statement reflects his official position.
During the interview, Jang addressed internal party criticism about not clearly stating his position on “absolute Yoon” while apologizing for the December 3 martial law. He explained, “I expressed my stance on that issue using language appropriate for a party leader, in the best way possible.”
He added, “Verbal discussions about severance can’t satisfy everyone. We need to demonstrate through actions and results.” Jang distanced himself from repeatedly raising this topic, stating, “Continually bringing up this issue only sows seeds of division.”
On January 7, during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Seoul, Jang acknowledged, “As the ruling party, we bear significant responsibility for failing to fulfill our role in national governance regarding the December 3 martial law.” However, he didn’t address demands for severance from former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
On the same day, People Power Party Supreme Council member Shin Dong-wook appeared on SBS Radio’s “Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show.” Commenting on Jeon’s demand for Jang to respond about the Yoon Again faction, Shin said, “I don’t view that as pressure. While council members discussed it informally during yesterday’s meeting, no one directly addressed Jeon’s claims.”
