Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim took to his official Facebook page on February 9 to congratulate the Liberal Democratic Party, led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, on its landslide victory in the House of Representatives election held on February 8.
Anwar interpreted the election results as a clear endorsement of Takaichi’s vision to revitalize Japan’s economy and her leadership style that resonates with the younger generation. Quoting Takaichi’s pledge to “work, work, work, and work some more,” Anwar expressed his own commitment to match her enthusiasm in advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Malaysia and Japan to new heights.
Last October, Takaichi visited Malaysia during the ASEAN-related summit. In her meeting with Prime Minister Anwar, they reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in key areas of economic security, including the stable supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG), rare earth elements, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
