Former Korea Gas Safety Corporation auditor Kim Kwang-jik has announced his bid for the June 3rd Danyang County mayoral election in Chungcheongbuk-do.
At a press conference held at the Danyang County Office on the 10th, Kim stated, “I will transform Danyang into the first county in South Korea where money circulates through every village.”

He added, “While Danyang has cooperated with national policies such as the Chungju Dam construction, cement industry development, and industrial waste management, its residents have not been adequately compensated. If Danyang has supported the nation, it’s now time for the nation to support Danyang.”
Kim’s key campaign promises include implementing a basic income for Danyang residents of 600,000 KRW (450 USD) annually, gradually installing solar power plants in 155 villages, and promoting an international tourism complex that includes a casino.
He emphasized, “By creating a rural basic income and establishing a stable living environment in Danyang, we will encourage young people to return and make Danyang an ideal place for raising children.”
A Danyang native, Kim Kwang-jik is a graduate of Chungbuk National University and Korea University. He has previously served as a county councilor and as a standing auditor for the Gas Safety Corporation.
