Automatic updates driven by user feedback
[Herald Economy=Reporter Kim Kwang-woo] Tmap Mobility announced on May 15 that it is rolling out a real-time road-information feature called Social Reports, which lets drivers share road conditions directly so others can react more quickly.
Social Reports allows drivers to report road conditions to other drivers in real time. While driving, users can tap the Report button on the screen to instantly share what they see—accidents, road closures, construction, hazards or obstacles, and enforcement cameras. The interface is designed to minimize distraction so drivers can use it safely.
Reports appear only when they are relevant to a driver’s route, reducing unnecessary alerts and helping drivers stay focused. Because user reports often surface information faster than official channels, they can improve safety.
Tmap has also strengthened accuracy and trust through a community verification system. Drivers who pass a reported location can respond with “There,” “Not there,” or “Cleared” to confirm a report. They can also mark another driver’s report as “Helpful” after reviewing it.
According to Tmap, reports that receive no updates after a certain period or that users mark as closed are automatically concluded to keep the information current.
Drivers can track how helpful their submissions are. In the My tab under Manage Driving Reports, users can view a report’s status, number of views, and likes in real time, allowing them to see the impact of even small reports.
Jeon Chang-geun, Tmap Mobility’s chief product officer (CPO), said, “When drivers encounter unexpected accidents or sudden closures, real-time information sharing among drivers becomes even more crucial. Through Social Reports, we will provide faster, more accurate road information and expand a trusted driving experience built with our users.”
Meanwhile, Tmap recently launched Open Profile, a feature that bundles a user’s reviews and saved places into a single profile for sharing. Users complete their profile by adding a photo and nickname in the Tmap My tab and linking their social media accounts.
