Paju City in Gyeonggi Province said it completed the relocation and expansion of the Simhak Mountain Park Golf Course parking lot on April 30 and will officially reopen the course on May 2.
The Simhak Mountain Park Golf Course has attracted about 45,000 visitors a year since opening in April 2023, making it a popular community recreation spot. But the original lot had only 48 spaces and sat beside a residential neighborhood, limiting capacity. Early-morning vehicle noise and chronic parking congestion had long frustrated nearby residents.
To address those issues, the city relocated the lot away from the homes and expanded it in phases. In the first phase last year, officials prepared the new parking site. In the second phase this year, they finished paving the lot and adding amenities such as restrooms and a waiting room, completing the project.
The project boosted parking capacity from 48 spaces to 110—more than double the previous number. City officials expect the expansion to ease repeated parking shortages during peak hours and to significantly reduce early-morning vehicle noise complaints from residents.
The addition of restrooms and a waiting room also gives visitors a more comfortable place to gather before and after play, improving the overall user experience.
Paju plans to install a parking management system and begin paid parking in June. Officials say the move will curb indiscriminate early-morning entries, eliminate long-term unauthorized and abandoned vehicles, and increase parking turnover.
City leaders say paid parking will help more people access the limited spaces and protect the quiet living environment of nearby residents.
The Simhak Mountain Park Golf Course will resume normal operations the morning of May 2. For details on hours and how to use the facility, see the \”Park Golf\” page under Public Sports Facilities on the Paju City Hall website.
A Paju City official said, “With this reopening, residents can enjoy park golf with significantly more parking and upgraded amenities. We will continue careful management to boost convenience for users and ensure the facility coexists harmoniously with nearby residents’ daily lives and living environment.”
