Tata Daewoo Mobility has teased HIXEN, a new model positioned as an alternative in the medium-duty truck market. The vehicle is in the final stages of development and is slated for launch in the first half of 2026.
HIXEN is designed for customers who need medium-duty payload capacity but operate in narrow lanes—common for work-style special-purpose vehicles within the general-payload segment. It uses a more compact cab than traditional medium-duty trucks to improve maneuverability, while retaining the powertrain and chassis strength required to meet the demands of the medium-duty general-payload market.
The project started not as a straightforward class upsize but as an effort to deliver the performance operators need in a more efficient package. Tata Daewoo Mobility focused on finding the right balance between load capacity and maneuverability for urban logistics and specialized work sites when it initiated HIXEN’s development.
With a relatively compact cab, HIXEN aims to fulfill the role of a medium-duty truck while increasing utility in city streets and tight alleyways. The design should enable quicker maneuvers and easier operation in urban transport and special-purpose tasks where turning space is limited.
The teaser image released with the announcement highlights illuminated LED lamps and hints at a family look shared with the electric GIXEN. That styling cue underscores HIXEN’s presence and builds anticipation for the full design reveal.
The name HIXEN combines “Hi,” a friendly greeting to customers, with “High,” signaling elevated product value, and continues Tata Daewoo Mobility’s XEN lineup philosophy. The current XEN family includes the light-medium DEXEN, medium KUXEN, heavy-duty MAXEN, and electric GIXEN; HIXEN expands that range.
A Tata Daewoo Mobility spokesperson said, “HIXEN offers a more rational choice for operations that require medium-duty truck capabilities. We developed it to reflect the real operating conditions of the general-payload market, and we expect it will set a new benchmark when it launches.”
Meanwhile, Tata Daewoo Mobility plans to address market demand by positioning KUXEN for the medium heavy-load segment and HIXEN for the general-payload segment.
