Nissan has unveiled the 2027 Z, bringing a mid-cycle refresh that follows the facelift introduced in Japan. The U.S. model mirrors those changes, aiming to sharpen the car’s appeal.
The move is notable: Nissan is investing in the Z lineup even as the sports-car segment contracts.
Analysts say the update could help sustain the shrinking market for affordable, driver-focused sports cars.
Design Changes Emphasize Retro Character

Most of the exterior revisions concentrate on the front end. A split, retro-style grille — a clear nod to the Datsun-era Z — now sits behind a redesigned bumper.
A new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint is available and is offered with a contrasting black roof to underscore the classic look. Nissan has also swapped the front roundel for a dedicated ‘Z’ emblem.
Those styling changes aren’t just cosmetic: the revisions are engineered to improve airflow and cooling efficiency as well.
Performance Upgrades…Tighter Driving Feel

The mid-level Performance trim receives 19-inch forged wheels and a retuned suspension. Larger-diameter monotube shock absorbers are fitted to improve ride comfort and cornering control.
The fuel tank layout has been revised to ensure consistent fuel delivery during aggressive cornering.
Taken together, the changes aim to deliver a more confident feel both on the street and in spirited driving situations.
Manual Transmission Added to Nismo
Enhances Driving Engagement

Until now, the performance-oriented Nismo was offered only with a 9-speed automatic, a frustration for many enthusiasts. Nissan has responded by adding a manual gearbox to the lineup.
The manual pairs with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 to sharpen throttle response and provide a more direct, engaging driving sensation.
Brakes derived from the GT-R improve stopping power, and targeted weight-reduction measures shave roughly 19 lb from the car.
The steering system has also been revised to cut internal friction by about 20%, yielding crisper steering feel.
For a Fading Sports-Car Market
A Ray of Hope

Nissan plans to reveal the 2027 Z at the New York Auto Show and to begin sales this summer.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but Nissan expects the entry price to remain near 64,000,000 KRW (approximately $48,000).
With the planned discontinuation of the Toyota Supra and BMW Z4, industry observers say the Nissan Z could emerge as a key option for buyers seeking an accessible, enthusiast-focused sports car over the next few years.
