[Herald Economy = Reporter Choi Eun-ji] Pablo Aviation, a developer of swarm artificial intelligence (AI) aerospace and defense platforms, has partnered with Canadian defense solutions firm IMT to press into the North American and NATO defense-drone markets.
Pablo Aviation said on May 28 that the companies signed a letter of intent (LOI) on May 27 at CANSEC 2026, the defense and security trade show in Ottawa. The agreement covers the development and integration of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and swarm-based next-generation autonomous systems. Pablo Aviation Chairman Kim Young‑jun and IMT CEO Cheryl Hacking attended the signing.
IMT is a major Canadian defense contractor that produces artillery rounds and precision components. It is one of five firms participating in the Canadian government’s Military Supplies Program (MSP) and has received roughly $300 million (approximately 400 billion KRW) through the Canada Defence Industry Resilience (CDIR) program, positioning it as a key supplier in NATO supply chains.
Under the LOI, the partners will jointly pursue drone projects for defense and security, including ▷advanced UAV development ▷advancement of autonomous swarm technology ▷operational systems ▷munitions integration ▷and mass production.
The collaboration will pair Pablo Aviation’s AI-driven swarm control, flight-management systems and drone design expertise with IMT’s precision manufacturing, weapons-integration and munitions capabilities. The companies say the combination is intended to create operational synergies for NATO allies and North American partners.
“A sovereign approach to advanced autonomous systems is essential,” Cheryl Hacking, IMT’s CEO, said. “This partnership positions us at the forefront of next‑generation autonomous defense systems and strengthens our competitive posture in the market.”
“Combining our globally competitive swarm-drone technology with IMT’s network and execution capabilities can establish an innovative next‑generation autonomous drone combat system and speed its fielding,” Pablo Aviation Chairman Kim Young‑jun said.
Leveraging the IMT partnership, Pablo Aviation plans to co‑participate at the Arctic Development Expo 2026 (ADE2026) in Inuvik, Canada, in June, where it will demonstrate an S10s swarm tactical flight for roughly 200 NATO and North American defense officials.
Last month, Pablo Aviation signed a supply agreement with the Canadian Arctic Test Centre (ATC) for the S10s swarm loitering munition and the company’s swarm-operation software.
