Russia said on May 25 (local time) it would carry out a large-scale strike against Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. In a statement cited by state-run TASS, the Russian Foreign Ministry said it was “launching systematic strikes on Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities in Kyiv in response to attacks on civilians.” Moscow said the strikes would target drone-related facilities receiving NATO support as well as Ukrainian command centers. The ministry also warned foreign nationals — including embassy staff and international organization personnel — to leave Kyiv as soon as possible. A day earlier, Russia launched a missile and drone barrage on Kyiv that killed at least four people. Moscow said the latest strikes were retaliation for an attack on a dormitory in the Russia-held Luhansk region; Ukraine’s military denied that account, saying the attack had been aimed at nearby military facilities. #Russia #Kyiv #NATO Yonhap News TV inquiries and tips: KakaoTalk/Line jebo23 Chae-young Kim (chaechae@yna.co.kr)
