The War Memorial in Yongsan, Seoul said May 19 it will host a special lecture titled “The Middle East War and Korean Peninsula Security” on May 22.
The Yongsan Special Lecture series invites experts in defense, reunification, history and warfare. It is the War Memorial’s flagship humanities program and takes place on the third Friday of each month.
Kim Jong-dae, a former member of the National Assembly’s Defense Committee and a military expert, will deliver the talk. He will examine recent conflict trends in the Middle East and assess their implications for security on the Korean Peninsula.
The lecture begins at 3 p.m. on May 22 in the Lee Byung-hyung Hall on the War Memorial’s first floor. Admission is free. Interested attendees can register in advance through the War Memorial’s website (www.warmemo.or.kr) or sign up in person on the day of the event.
A War Memorial official said, “We hope this lecture helps the public understand the rapidly evolving international security environment and provides an opportunity to view security issues from multiple perspectives.”
