The Abu Dhabi Government Media Office said a single drone struck the Barakah nuclear power plant complex in Abu Dhabi on May 17 (local time), igniting a fire. The office said the drone hit a generator located outside the plant’s inner perimeter in the Al Dhafra area and that authorities mounted an immediate response. Officials said there have been no reported casualties so far and confirmed there has been no impact on radiation safety levels. The UAE Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) said the plant’s core systems are operating normally. UAE authorities did not identify who carried out the drone attack. Barakah is the Middle East’s first commercial nuclear power plant, built in Abu Dhabi using Korea Electric Power Corporation’s (KEPCO) domestically developed APR1400 reactor design. #UAE #nuclear #Barakah #attack #drone For Yonhap News TV inquiries and tips: KakaoTalk/LINE jebo23.
