Expanding NATO Market Exports with Precision-Guided Weapons and Multilayered Defense Systems
Using a German office as a base to localize and strengthen follow-on logistics across Europe

LIG Defense & Aerospace is showcasing guided weapons and air-defense systems at Eastern Europe’s largest defense expo, positioning the Romanian Shingung program as a launchpad to pursue opportunities in NATO and EU markets.
LIG D&A said it will attend BSDA 2026 in Bucharest from 13-15. BSDA is a leading defense exhibition for Black Sea and Eastern European militaries. At the show, the company will demonstrate the performance of Korean guided weapons and press its case for integrated air-defense solutions across Europe, spotlighting its Shingung portable surface-to-air system in Romania.
The company signed a Shingung supply contract with Romania in November 2023; the program is slated to conclude this month. LIG D&A calls it the first deployment of a Korean air-defense system into the NATO market. At the exhibition, the firm plans a ceremony marking project completion and will discuss follow-on cooperation, including additional Shingung procurements and the potential construction of a multilayered Romanian defense architecture. The display focuses on air defense and precision-strike capabilities, featuring systems such as Shingung, Haegung, Cheongung-II and L-SAM, along with weapons intended for future operations: the 2.75-inch guided rocket Bigung, CIWS-II, a mobile counter-drone integrated system, laser weapon systems and anti-tank guided missiles.
LIG D&A will also exhibit maritime unmanned platforms, introducing unmanned surface vessels like Haegom-2 and Haegom-5 and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), underscoring a portfolio that spans land, sea and air. The company is expanding its European footprint after opening a German office in September to build regional partnerships. If Romanian programs grow, LIG D&A says it will consider opening a Romania office to serve as a hub for Eastern Europe.
A LIG D&A official said, “We aim to grow into a key NATO defense partner with advanced capabilities across land, sea, space and cyber. Based on the trust we built with Romania, we will elevate the profile of Korea’s defense industry across Europe.”
