No Export Disruptions… Integrated Consultation on Defense Export‑Import Rules Held / Provided by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration
– Provides unified guidance from export/import permits to overseas market support
– Prevents unauthorized exports and offers tailored, company‑specific consultations

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (Administrator Lee Yong‑cheol) convened the first‑half 2026 integrated consultation meeting on May 12 at the Daejeon‑Sejong Regional Office of SMEs and Startups. The session aimed to improve defense exporters’ understanding of export‑import licensing and to prevent unauthorized shipments of defense articles, strategic materials and dual‑use goods.
DAPA and the Daejeon‑Sejong Regional Office established a joint counseling system and hosted the meeting in Daejeon, a national research and development hub, to strengthen export capabilities among defense small‑and‑medium enterprises and help them penetrate overseas markets.
DAPA holds annual consultation sessions to guide companies through defense export/import permit procedures.
To sustain the recent uptick in defense exports, the agency coordinated this meeting with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ export‑support programs, and the Trade Security Agency joined the event.
The program offered practical, work‑focused training on export/import licensing for defense articles, strategic items and dual‑use goods. It also provided briefings on export marketing and overseas market support programs for small firms. About 30 companies attended, and organizers offered on‑the‑spot help to resolve administrative and operational hurdles companies encounter during the export process.
Officials conducted company‑specific consultations to answer questions about licensing procedures, and they said regulatory issues raised at the meeting will be reviewed closely and reflected in future policy adjustments.
Following this first‑half session, DAPA plans to hold regional consultation meetings or conduct on‑site company visits in the second half of the year.
Yoon Chang‑moon, director of DAPA’s Defense Technology Development and Protection Bureau, said the meeting was designed to prevent legal risks from unauthorized exports and to strengthen the global expansion base for defense SMEs through interagency cooperation. “We will continue to expand field‑level support so companies can sustain stable export operations,” he added.
