Certified employers may receive preferential bank loan rates and other benefits
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will accept applications for the 2026 Certified Excellent Employers of Veterans program from May 11 through July 20. The initiative aims to help mid- to long-term service veterans secure stable employment and improve their job prospects.
The ministry said on May 11 that the certification program, launched in 2015, is designed not only to create jobs for veterans who served mid- to long-term, but also to build a sustained pipeline that helps them remain employed and encourages companies to actively hire veterans.
The ministry codified the certification into law in 2021 and has since expanded administrative, financial and legal incentives to drive corporate participation. Certified employers currently receive benefits such as preferential loan rates from commercial banks, deferred customs inspections, and extra evaluation points when considered for outstanding-company status by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and local governments.
Companies that wish to apply should prepare the required documents (posted on the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs website) and email them to the Certified Excellent Employers of Veterans Secretariat at the Korea Management Certification Institute by July 20.
The ministry will hold an online certification briefing on June 4 to explain the program and the certification criteria. The Korea Management Certification Institute will screen applicants through document review and on-site inspections. The Certification Committee will then deliberate and announce the certified companies in September.
Final designees will receive certificates and recognition plaques from the minister during Veterans Week 2026 (Oct. 6–8). Minister Kwon O-eul said, “Companies that open doors for veterans to settle into civilian life are another partner in national security.”
