What Happened? Investigation Launched After Army Officer’s Mysterious Death in Yangyang

A noncommissioned officer (NCO) in his 50s was found dead in the single-soldier dormitory at an Army unit in Yangyang, in South Korea’s Gangwon Province. Officials said there were no signs of external intrusion at the scene.
According to police, the NCO was discovered around 8:20 a.m. on the 17th in an almost unconscious state inside the dormitory. A military physician later pronounced him dead.
Police and military investigators are probing the circumstances. They reported no evidence of forced entry, and no suicide note or other items were recovered at the scene.
