[Herald Economy reporter Lee Won-yul] President Donald Trump on April 5 (local time) warned of strikes on bridges and power plants and demanded that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump posted on the social platform Truth Social: “Tuesday (the 7th) will be a day for their power plants, a day for their bridges,” and added, “Open the (Strait of) Hormuz. If you don’t, you’ll live in hell.”
He warned that actions would converge on an unprecedented scale and urged observers to watch what unfolds.
He also appended the phrase “Praise Allah.”
Trump used profane language several times in the post, a tone that both raises pressure and signals urgency in his posture toward Iran.
Earlier, he said he would delay previously announced strikes on power plants and energy infrastructure for ten days, until April 6, citing a desire to negotiate with Tehran.
The day before on Truth Social, he wrote, “There isn’t much time. They have 48 hours until the gates of hell open,” and reminded followers that he had given Iran ten days to either accept U.S. terms to end hostilities or reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
On March 30, he warned that if talks failed, “we will blow up all their power plants, wells, and Kharg Island (probably even all desalination facilities), utterly devastate them and end our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran.”
In a national address on April 1, he said the U.S. would “deliver extremely powerful strikes against Iran over the next two to three weeks” and vowed to “return them to the Stone Age.”
