
The Defense Information and Communications Association (Chairman Shin In-seop) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Physical AI Association on the 31st at the Military Mutual Aid Association C&C to advance defense intelligence and unmanned systems.
The two organizations agreed to pursue integrating AI into C5I (command, control, communications, computers, cyber and intelligence) systems, as well as into robots and drones.
Planned areas of cooperation include exchanging technical information and conducting joint research on defense AI; supporting joint academic activities such as seminars and exhibitions; operating training programs to develop expert personnel; and identifying models for defense intelligence projects.
\”We must equip the C5I foundation with an intelligent engine called Physical AI for our military to take a leap forward as an AI science-and-technology power,\” Shin In-seop said. \”We will act as a technical bridge to ensure that cooperation between the two organizations translates into real improvements in combat capability.\”
Yu Tae-jun, president of the Physical AI Association, added, \”As intelligence from the virtual world is realized on the physical battlefield through robots and unmanned systems, the two associations’ expertise will create significant synergy.\”
After signing the MOU, the organizations held a joint seminar titled \”Next-Generation Command and Control Development Led by Physical AI.\” Park Nam-hee, former director of the Defense Ministry’s Intelligent Informatization Bureau, delivered the keynote speech on \”Key Directions for AI-Based Defense Innovation,\” outlining a roadmap for the future of defense AI.
In the corporate session, Kim Moon-hwan, vice president of Ma-eum AI, presented \”Edge Physical AI and AI Command: The Technological Paradigm of Next-Generation C5ISR.\” Lee Junho, CEO of CrowdData, spoke on \”Defense Data Engine: Field-Proven Deployment Strategies.\” Kim Ui-seong, director at SimplePlatform, discussed \”Physical AI-Based Military Facility and Field Intelligent Safety Management and Accident Prevention.\”
