Russia warned publicly that it could take retaliatory measures if South Korea supplies lethal weapons to Ukraine.
State-run TASS published an interview with Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko on March 28, 2026 (local time).
Rudenko said Moscow has repeatedly told Seoul, through multiple channels, that it will not tolerate any direct or indirect South Korean involvement in supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine.

“If those warnings are ignored, relations between Russia and South Korea will sustain serious damage, and Moscow would have no choice but to retaliate,” he said.
Rudenko added that he hopes the situation does not escalate to that point.
