Muan County in South Jeolla Province announced on March 23 that it will host a public briefing on the Gwangju military airbase relocation at 2 p.m. on April 1 at the Seungdal Cultural and Arts Center. The event, organized by the Ministry of National Defense, is intended to explain the relocation plan and gather community feedback.
The briefing will cover the relocation process, support programs for communities near the new site, and national-level assistance measures. Officials from the Ministry of National Defense and related agencies will hold a Q&A immediately after the presentation to answer residents’ questions directly.
A Muan County official said, \”Because the airbase relocation has direct implications for the community’s future, we organized this briefing to ensure residents receive accurate information. We encourage residents to attend, ask questions and get answers directly.\”
Muan County said it will continue coordinating closely with the Ministry of National Defense and other agencies, serving as a bridge to ensure local views are fully reflected in policy.
