In a show of support for the Marines defending the nation, Pohang City representatives, led by Acting Mayor Jang Sang-gil, along with local agricultural cooperative leaders, presented care packages to the troops. The event was attended by over 30 military personnel, including Major General Park Seong-soon, commander of the Marine Corps 1st Division.
The care packages, valued at approximately 30 million KRW (22,500 USD), included livestock vouchers and snacks, jointly prepared by Pohang City and the agricultural cooperative. Following the presentation, attendees discussed potential avenues for strengthening military-community partnerships.
Acting Mayor Jang expressed, “This visit aims to convey our profound appreciation to the service members who steadfastly protect our nation, even during the holiday season.” He added, “Pohang City is committed to fostering ongoing collaboration and support, building on the mutual trust between our military and local community.”
Pohang City has consistently worked to enhance military-community relations through various initiatives, including city tours for service members and their families, operating a joint civilian-military learning center, and supporting local businesses offering military discounts. The city also actively promotes shared projects such as rural labor assistance, sister unit exchanges, and backing cultural events.
This goodwill visit not only expressed gratitude to the troops safeguarding national security but also served as a platform to explore sustainable partnerships between the local community and the military.
