Pohang City Honors Military Personnel Serving on the Front Lines of National Security

POHANG, South Korea – In a gesture of appreciation for those defending the nation, Pohang City officials visited the Marine Corps 1st Division headquarters on February 10 to deliver care packages to service members working through the Lunar New Year holiday.
The delegation was led by Acting Mayor Jang Sang-gil and included representatives from the local agricultural cooperative. They were greeted by Maj. Gen. Park Seong-soon, commander of the 1st Marine Division, along with about 30 other military officials from various units including training, logistics, aviation, and Naval Aviation Command.
The care packages, valued at approximately 30 million KRW (about 22,500 USD), contained livestock exchange vouchers and snacks. This joint effort by the city and agricultural cooperative aims to boost morale among the troops. Following the presentation, city and military leaders engaged in discussions on fostering stronger military-community relations.
“We organized this visit to express our profound gratitude to the service members who continue to safeguard our nation, even during the holiday season,” said Acting Mayor Jang. “Pohang City remains committed to supporting and strengthening the bond between our military and local community through various collaborative initiatives.”
