The U.S. Army’s elite Green Berets and members of the Republic of Korea’s Special Warfare Command recently completed a joint air assault exercise on the Korean Peninsula, military officials confirmed.
Images released by the Pentagon and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command show American and ROK special operations forces conducting day and night air assault training using UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the U.S.-ROK Combined Division.
The bilateral exercise reportedly included a range of mission-essential tasks such as live-fire drills, close air support coordination, and special operations focusing on reconnaissance and terminal attack control.
According to INDOPACOM, a U.S. Army Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) team participated in the exercise. An ODA is the primary tactical element of Army Special Forces, commonly known as Green Berets.
A defense official stated that joint training between U.S. and ROK special operations forces is conducted on a regular basis to maintain readiness and interoperability.
