Kim Jong-chul, chair of the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission, spent Korea Private Broadcasting Day listening to local broadcasters’ concerns and on-the-ground feedback.
On April 17, Kim attended the 2026 Korea Private Broadcasting Day ceremony at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center. He met with the chief executives of nine private broadcasters to discuss major industry issues and strategies for development.
The meeting included nine broadcasters: SBS; regional stations in Gwangju, Ulsan, Jeonju, Jiwon, and Cheongju; KNN; TBC; and TJB.
The commission presented key proposals on regulation and promotion policies for local broadcasting and heard the stations’ suggestions and operational challenges.
In his remarks, Kim called private broadcasters a pillar that records local life and defends democratic values. He pledged that, to strengthen competitiveness, the commission will rationally reform outdated regulations and expand support for content production, alongside other policy measures.
