[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Yoo Yeon-seok convincingly slipped into the role of Esom’s sister in Shin Irang Law Office.

In Episode 8 of SBS’s Friday–Saturday drama Shin Irang Law Office, which aired April 4, Yoo Yeon-seok plays Shin Irang, a lawyer who can see ghosts. When he becomes possessed by the sister of the justice-driven Na-hyun (Esom), he sparks a series of surprising and entertaining moments.

Irang is overtaken the instant he sees Na-hyun’s older sister, Han So-hyun (Hwang Beul-byeol). So-hyun’s refusal to tolerate injustice propels Irang to intervene when a student is being bullied. He uses Taekwondo to subdue the group, but the situation quickly backfires as others accuse him of needlessly assaulting the students. While possessed and feeling wronged, he snaps at Na-hyun—“Why are you so closed-minded?”—a reaction that both shocks her and lands as a spot-on impersonation of her sister.

Irang’s behavior ultimately thaws Na-hyun’s guarded heart. Through So-hyun, he discovers the victim has been covering up the assault because a compromising video was used to blackmail them, and the blackmailer may even be contemplating murder. Irang offers warm reassurance and works to defuse the situation. He and Na-hyun even team up, with Irang posing as a repair technician to slip into the PC bang (an internet cafe) where the suspected student is hiding the evidence video.

When Na-hyun realizes Irang is seeing her dead sister, the emotional stakes rise. At an amusement park, Irang becomes possessed by an exhilarated So-hyun, and a subsequent hug between him and Na-hyun closes the episode on a tender, heart-fluttering note.

Yoo Yeon-seok’s finely tuned possession performance injects new momentum into the series. He portrays a high school student with a clear moral compass in a firm, commanding voice, while also revealing a fresh, joyful side when the character encounters something he truly loves—adding emotional dimensionality to the role.

Meanwhile, the SBS Friday–Saturday drama Shin Irang Law Office, starring Yoo Yeon-seok alongside Esom and Kim Kyung-nam, airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m.
