[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] Actress Park Ha-sun said she feels grateful despite the challenges she has faced preparing for ‘Hongdo.’

On the afternoon of April 1, a press conference for the play ‘Hongdo’ took place at Sungshin Women’s University Unjeong Green Campus. After a delay in the highlight scene, a Q&A session followed featuring artistic director Ko Seon-woong, National Asia Culture Center Foundation president Kim Myung-kyu, costume designer Cha Ikim (Kim Young-jin), and actors Park Ha-sun, Ye Ji-won, Choi Ha-yoon, Jung Bo-seok, and Hong Ui-jun.

The play ‘Hongdo’ reimagines the tragic romance between Hongdo — who becomes a gisaeng to support her brother’s education — and Gwangho, the son of a prestigious family, exploring universal themes of sacrifice and love.

Park Ha-sun, who joined this season’s cast, laughed as she described the process: \”Lately I feel like a newborn. I’m relearning everything — my voice, my walk, even where I look — down to the tiniest details.\”

She said she remains thankful. \”When I was young, I even told myself I’d rather die than not be an actor by 40. I became an actor earlier than that, and now I have the honor of learning from this role. My lips even split and I got nosebleeds, but I’ve learned so much,\” she said.

\”If I can get through this hurdle, I think I’ll grow even more,\” she continued. \”I’m excited and optimistic. Watching a recording of ‘Hongdo’ from 10 years ago was inspiring and made me proud. I hope audiences can feel that same pride.\”

After completing 22 performances at Seoul Arts Center’s CJ Towol Theater from April 10–26, the play ‘Hongdo’ will tour 7 cities nationwide: the National Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, Suseong Artpia in Daegu, Ansan Culture & Arts Center, Pohang Culture & Arts Center, Miryang Arirang Art Center, Busan Citizens’ Hall, and Anseong Matchum Art Hall.
