[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] ‘Scarecrow’ leads Park Hae-soo and Lee Hee-joon go separate ways and come together to reopen an investigation.
ENA’s new Monday–Tuesday series Scarecrow, set to premiere April 20, unveiled a poster on the 27th that spotlights the tense, uneasy collaboration between Kang Tae-ju (Park Hae-soo) and Cha Si-young (Lee Hee-joon).
Scarecrow centers on a detective who, while hunting a serial killer, unexpectedly forms an alliance with someone he hates. Spanning three decades—from 1988 to 2019—the story follows two men bound by fate and rancor as they pursue the truth, promising a fresh brand of suspense. Director Park Jun-woo, known for Taxi Driver and Crash, directs, while writer Lee Ji-hyun, who previously partnered with Park on Taxi Driver, pens the script. The reunion of this director-writer team has already raised expectations for a high-octane genre piece.
As anticipation grows for what could be a tightly crafted crime thriller, the newly released poster zeroes in on the volatile standoff between detective Kang Tae-ju, who is tracking \”that man,\” and prosecutor Cha Si-young, who is turning his sights on the detective. The two stare each other down, and the image crackles with an unnamed tension. Former classmates, they are forced back together by the Gangseong serial murder case. Carrying different memories and grievances from their past, they now join forces for the investigation—each driven by his own motives.
The acting chemistry between Park Hae-soo and Lee Hee-joon is the series’ main draw. Park plays Kang Tae-ju, an ace detective with relentless observational skills and razor-sharp instincts. Lee portrays Cha Si-young, an elite prosecutor known for cool judgment and political savvy. After being reassigned to his hometown of Gangseong, Kang pursues the true culprit behind the Gangseong serial murders. But when he crosses paths with lead prosecutor Cha Si-young, he faces a dilemma: to catch the man he’s determined to arrest, he must work with someone he deeply resents. Cha Si-young, intent on building a platform for a political career, leads the investigation by any means necessary—even aligning with Kang, a former classmate he once bullied.
Scarecrow premieres April 20 at 10:00 PM on ENA, and will also stream on KT Genie TV and TVING.
