[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Yoon Kyung-ho, who appears in the crime thriller Final Investigation, said the film reveals a new facet of his work.
On March 25, the press screening for Final Investigation (directed by Park Cheol-hwan; produced by Cheongnyeon Film) was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Park and actors Bae Sung-woo, Jung Ga-ram, Jo Han-chul and Yoon Kyung-ho attended the event.
Final Investigation follows Jae-hyeok (Bae Sung-woo), a detective relegated to a rural outpost who gets one last chance. He returns to Seoul with rookie detective Jun-ho (Jung Ga-ram) to carry out an all-out probe into a murder case that involves two suspects.
Yoon plays a suspect who claims his innocence. He told reporters that watching the finished film was a revealing experience: the scenes they shot felt vivid again, and the character offers a twist audiences haven’t seen from him before. He said it was refreshing to portray aspects of himself he hadn’t shown on screen previously and that the role brings out a darker edge.
He added that the performance differs from the method-style roles he’s done recently, and he feels gratified when viewers express surprise at that change. \”The character isn’t upbeat,\” he said, \”and there were many moments that were difficult to convey.\”
Yoon also noted the warm response he’s received from recent projects—citing the series Pinggego and the variety show Channel Sibo-ya—and said he feels that popularity even around his neighborhood. \”People approach me as familiar and chatty, which I appreciate,\” he said, \”but I’m mindful that one image can become limiting. In that sense, Jo Dong-o in Final Investigation is a welcome departure. How audiences respond is up to them, but I’m excited to show a side of me that hasn’t been seen before.\”
Final Investigation opens on April 2.
