[Sports Seoul | Reporter Park Jin-up] Actor Yoo Ji-tae sat down on the variety show ‘You Quiz on the Block’ and candidly discussed the physical toll of preparing for the film ‘A Man Who Lives With the King’.
During a recent taping, Yoo shared behind-the-scenes details from the movie, which drew more than 14 million admissions. To inhabit his character, he said he had to bulk up quickly and recalled, \”I pretty much ate like crazy,\” describing the intense weight-gain process.
The rapid change, however, came at a cost. Yoo revealed that the bulking phase led to health problems, including hyperlipidemia and acute gastritis affecting his stomach and intestines, causing significant physical pain.

He also recalled a humorous moment with director Jang Hang-jun, saying the director’s typically lighthearted demeanor sometimes undercut the mood when Yoo needed to stay serious for a scene, making it hard to perform and prompting laughter on set.
Yoo spoke frankly about why he’s recently been receiving more offers to play villains than romantic leads, delivering the kind of sharp, assured banter viewers expect from him.
The full episode of ‘You Quiz on the Block,’ featuring Yoo Ji-tae’s candid reflections, will air soon.
