[Sports Today reporter Song O-jung] Actors Lee Young-ae and Yoo Ji-tae will reunite as the leads in the forthcoming drama ‘Jae-i’s Young-in’.

On the 23rd, production company iWill Media confirmed it was greenlighting the new series ‘Jae-i’s Young-in’ and announced that Lee Young-ae and Yoo Ji-tae will headline the cast.

The drama follows a man and a woman who carry mirror-image wounds and must relearn how to live together. Left isolated in the world, the two fall in love as tangled pasts and hidden truths begin to surface. Framed as a mystery-tinged melodrama, the show promises an immersive, edge-of-your-seat experience. The producers are currently in talks with major broadcasters about scheduling.

The reunion of Lee and Yoo after 25 years has generated particularly strong buzz. Fans and critics alike are eager to see how the chemistry they first displayed in the film One Fine Spring Day will evolve into a deeper, more mature emotional register on screen.

Lee Young-ae will play Ju Young-in, an art teacher and painter who is grieving the loss of her son. She survives by painting murals in the sleepless hours before dawn. Lee’s nuanced, richly layered performance is expected to bring out Young-in’s simultaneous toughness and fragility, delivering a character that resonates deeply with viewers.

Opposite her, Yoo Ji-tae will portray Shin Jae-i, the head of an architecture firm whose boyish charm and free spirit mask a profound blank: dissociative amnesia. As buried truths gradually emerge, his world fractures and he confronts mounting confusion. With his imposing presence and wide acting range, Yoo is positioned to deliver another career-defining turn.

The collision between these two deeply written characters should produce an intense, finely calibrated emotional trajectory that grips the audience. In particular, the revelations the wounded protagonists face and the explosive acting interplay between Lee and Yoo are expected to drive the series’ immersive power. With two seasoned performers at the center, ‘Jae-i’s Young-in’ is set to be one of 2026’s most affecting emotional dramas.

The production lineup further bolsters expectations. Director Oh Ki-hwan, known for the film The Art of Work, reunites with Lee Young-ae after their collaboration on The Gift, promising a strong creative rapport. Veteran writer Jo Eun-jung, whose credits include Hotel King and Feast of the Gods, penned the screenplay and lends narrative heft to the project.

The series will be produced by iWill Media (CEO Jeon Yong-ju), a company recognized for a string of well-crafted dramas such as Return to the Palace, Moon in the Day, Not Crazy, The Witch’s Court, and Solomon’s Perjury. The production company announced that the team aims to deliver a distinctive, stylish mystery melodrama, marked by precise emotional beats and unpredictable turns.
