[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] The historical drama The Man Who Lives with the King has climbed to No. 3 on South Korea’s all-time box office chart.
On the morning of the 22nd, the Korea Film Council’s integrated box office system reported that The Man Who Lives with the King attracted 346,553 moviegoers the previous day, topping the daily box office. Its cumulative attendance reached 14,447,738.
That total pushed the film past the previous third-place title, Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds (14.41 million), to claim the new No. 3 spot. The all-time domestic box office leader remains The Admiral: Roaring Currents (17.61 million), followed by Extreme Job (16.26 million).
The film’s cumulative gross has also surpassed 139.4 billion KRW (approximately $104.55 million), placing it among the market’s highest earners.
Released on the 4th of last month, The Man Who Lives with the King passed the 10 million admission mark on its 31st day in theaters and has sustained strong momentum since. It became the 34th film to reach 10 million admissions in Korea (including foreign releases) and the 25th Korean title to join the 10-million club, adding a new chapter to the country’s box office history.
Distributor Showbox posted a commemorative “history” poster on its official social channels in the afternoon, thanking audiences and noting that, with its rise to No. 3 on the all-time chart, #ManWhoLivesWithTheKing has now surpassed 14.57 million viewers. The company added, “In 1457, history tried to erase it, but 14.57 million viewers are here to record it. Thanks to the people of 2026, we are no longer alone.”
