Rising star Yoon Jae-chan is set to make waves with his spine-chilling debut on the big screen.
The actor attended the production press conference for the horror flick ‘Salmokji’ on March 4th at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. ‘Salmokji’ promises to deliver edge-of-your-seat thrills when a mysterious figure appears in a street view image of Salmokji Reservoir. As a film crew ventures to the location for a reshoot, they encounter an ominous presence lurking in the murky depths.
Yoon portrays Seong-bin, a character who embarks on a work trip to the reservoir with Soo-in (played by Kim Hye-yoon) and finds himself embroiled in a series of inexplicable events. Described as the cheerful and upbeat junior employee with a strong survival instinct, Yoon’s immersive performance is expected to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
During the press conference, Yoon teased audiences about a pivotal scene that takes place in a car, urging them to experience it in theaters. “Seong-bin is devoted to Soo-in but also determined to survive at all costs,” Yoon explained, ramping up anticipation for the film.
The actor also dished out some behind-the-scenes gossip, playfully outing his co-stars. He crowned Jang Da-ah as the bravest on set, while poking fun at Lee Jong-won and Oh Dong-min as the resident scaredy-cats. “Surprisingly, our female cast members were fearless, while the guys were jumping at shadows,” Yoon quipped, eliciting laughter from the crowd. In a lighthearted moment, he even suggested the cast greet audiences in full ghost makeup if the film hits its break-even point.
Wrapping up the event, Yoon left the audience with a tantalizing promise: “‘Salmokji’ is hands down the scariest film I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait for you all to experience the same heart-pounding terror I felt.” Mark your calendars – ‘Salmokji’ hits theaters on April 8.
Yoon Jae-chan has been steadily building his reputation with standout performances in a string of popular dramas. His credits include MBC’s ‘Judge Lee Han-young,’ SBS’s ‘Try: We Become Miracles,’ tvN’s ‘Love on a Narrow Bridge,’ MBC’s ‘So Intimately a Betrayer,’ and Disney+’s ‘Not Powerful but Charming Task Force.’ Fans can catch him next as Dr. Shin in tvN’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Siren,’ and in SBS’s ‘Sold Out Again Today,’ slated for release in the first half of this year.
