[Variety] Actor Seo Hyun-woo stunned viewers with his chilling portrayal of a prosecutor’s hidden brutality in the hit series “Honor: Their Courtroom Battle.”

The third episode of ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Honor,” which aired on February 9, saw Seo Hyun-woo make a commanding debut as Park Je-yeol, a prosecutor in the Mujin District Prosecutor’s Office. His powerful entrance not only ratcheted up the show’s tension but also drove viewership ratings upward, signaling a promising trajectory for the series.

Park Je-yeol’s introduction was nothing short of riveting. He nonchalantly stamped a report dismissing the investigation into Jo Yu-jung’s (Park Se-hyun) death, initially presenting the picture of a composed, elite prosecutor. However, this facade quickly crumbled as his right hand and facial muscles began to twitch uncontrollably, forcing him to hastily swallow pills from his desk drawer. This moment instantly piqued viewers’ curiosity about the darkness lurking beneath Park Je-yeol’s polished exterior.

The most shocking revelation came during a flashback of the deceased Jo Yu-jung. In a bone-chilling scene, Park Je-yeol calmly sipped tea while Jo Yu-jung pleaded in terror before him. This moment not only exposed Park as more than just a corrupt prosecutor but unveiled him as a key player in the enigmatic organization “Connect.” The implication that Jo Yu-jung’s death was meticulously orchestrated by Park sent shivers down viewers’ spines, adding a twisted layer to the unfolding mystery.

Seo Hyun-woo’s icy performance only intensified as the episode progressed. Upon discovering that Hwang Hyun-jin (Lee Cheong-ah) was the initial whistleblower in the Lee Jun-hyuk (Lee Chung-ju) case, Park Je-yeol instructed Koo Seon-kyu (Choi Young-jun) to verify the informant’s identity. His faint, cold smile during this exchange evoked the image of a predator zeroing in on its prey, ramping up the dramatic tension and foreshadowing the chaos to come.

The episode’s climax saw Yoon Ra-young (Lee Na-young), enraged by Jo Yu-jung’s case, make a televised appearance to issue a coded declaration of war against Connect. The juxtaposition of her fiery speech with Park Je-yeol’s icy stare at the monitor created a palpable sense of impending conflict, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats for the inevitable showdown between Park and the I&J trio.

Seo Hyun-woo’s masterful performance seamlessly blended restrained emotion with explosive charisma, bringing the complex villain Park Je-yeol to life. His ability to dominate scenes with minimal dialogue showcased his commanding screen presence, solidifying his reputation as a powerhouse actor in the industry.

With Seo Hyun-woo’s character emerging as the eye of a brewing storm, fans are eagerly anticipating the intricate strategies and intense confrontations that lie ahead, as he continues to craft what promises to be an unforgettable villainous arc.

“Honor: Their Courtroom Battle” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM on ENA.
