[EPN NP Now Reporter Go Nari] Netflix is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated romantic comedy, “Monthly Boyfriend,” starring Jisoo and Seo In-guk, on March 6.
The series follows Mirae, a webtoon producer, as she explores a virtual dating service called “Monthly Boyfriend” to experience romantic feelings she’s never encountered in real life. The show authentically captures the lives of young professionals worn down by their repetitive work routines, seamlessly blending relatable real-world issues with a virtual twist.
Jisoo steps into the role of Mirae, a character who has put romance on the back burner due to life’s pressures. In recently released stills, she’s seen dozing off on the subway with noise-canceling headphones, a scene that resonates with many working professionals. The actress noted, “I believe many viewers will see themselves in Mirae’s ordinary life,” and emphasized her focus on delivering nuanced emotional performances.

Seo In-guk portrays Kyung-nam, Mirae’s workplace colleague. While Kyung-nam is a respected producer at work, he reveals a different side during after-hours gatherings. Seo described his character as “someone who may seem cold but has a sensitive side,” and teased viewers about his unique on-screen chemistry with Jisoo.
Director Kim Jung-sik highlighted the evolving character dynamics and personal growth narratives as key elements for viewers. He explained, “We’ll see Mirae, hurt by reality, healing through virtual dating and rediscovering hope in love,” assuring that audiences will find themselves rooting for the protagonist’s journey.
“Monthly Boyfriend,” showcasing Jisoo’s nuanced acting and Seo In-guk’s distinctive charm, is set to premiere globally on Netflix on March 6.
